As far as visiting parents, I've no problem with that. But the fact that he, and his wife, had symptoms makes it indefensible.

I'd not visited my own 90 year old dad for eight weeks. :-( I've now seen him three times in five days :-). Saw him on Tuesday and took him to Docs for a check up. Pulse below 50 but no cause for concern. Wednesday at 9am he phoned me to say Docs had been in touch and could he get to hospital because they wanted to fit a pacemaker. I drove over and took him onto the ward at Walsall Manor Hospital. The pace maker was fitted and he was eating a sandwich by lunchtime :-). Saw him today and all is fine. My sister (a Practice Nurse) and my brother-in-law have been visiting him throughout. It's keeping to common sense that's important - rules are too 'broad brush'.
