Thing is with regard to immigration that the British Isles have always, throughout history, had waves of immigration - from the Saxons and Normans to the Huguenots to the Windrush generation and Ugandan Asians. And the country has always benefited from this.
The only time that I can think of when an entire caste of people were expelled would be the Jews in the 14th Century.
