I have been using a Fitbit for around 10 years.
Probably on my 4th or 5th one. I think 3 have been replaced under warranty (towards the end of the warranty too, they don't quibble). I currently have a charge 5.
I have found it very useful, particularly tracking my steps and sleep. I don't take the premium membership but through the app I have been able to learn my sleep patterns and I know if I am not in bed by 10:00 pm I need to go home I miss a crucial sleep cycle and am likely to get less than 5 hours.
I am also able to gauge from it when I might trigger a migraine.
It connects to other apps like My Fitness Pal and Strava (both free versions), so you can get a good look of your overall health if you're doing more than steps..
My advice, go for it, but the basic models should be okay. Given the lifespan of them, I wouldn't overspend on something top of the range unless you specifically need the functionality.
