Subsidise??? Or just not tax? Do you think children’s books should be subject to VAT as well? Private healthcare? Medicines from Boots?
Why should the ordinary tax payer subsidise rich people eating cakes??? (Picks up pitch fork and torch and goes to Gail’s).
Most private schools will be fine. All richer parents will be fine. Private schools will be for the elite only.
The overall quality of education in the country will reduce. Labour productivity will be even worse. The country will spiral into decline and be the subject of a hostile takeover from Poland. And all because of this ill thought out policy.

Surely the argument is Children's Books, Cakes and Medicines from Boots are bought by more than just a very priveledged 7% of the population.
You've argued for a wealth tax, that's essentially what this is, a tax that by definition will only be paid by people earning high amounts.
And it is a subsidy. Imagine a world where we already paid VAT on Private Education and a Govt came in a removed it, that would be seen as subsidising would it not? The public would be paying for that tax cut.
If course it doesnt even need to be picked up by parents. The schools themselves could take most if not all of the hit given fees have gone up above inflation.
