Finally got round to watching this last night, after years of avoiding it because I thought it would be too painfully on the nose. I've been told on several occasions that my friends and I could have the model for the show.

Anyhow, I spent most of the first episode trying to work out who Will reminds me of and finally I got it.

It's Rishi Sunak!! I don't think I've ever heard two people who sound more alike. It's as if Sunak was doing a spot on impression the whole time he was in the public eye.

I can't remember if I mentioned this in the thread on the rather embarrassingly large number of celebs I am acquainted with or not? Anyway, this geezer's kid is in the same class as my friend's kid, at school. A few years ago we were at the kid's party at London Fields, in the heart of the Liberal Elite area of North East London. My mate said that Will who was present (I forget his real name) is peculiarly shy and obviously painfully aware of his celebrity, and apparently hates the fact it follows him everywhere. Sure enough, I had a brief meaningless conversation with him, and he did seem averse to holding eye contact. A few minutes later as I chatted to someone else I noticed a very red faced bloke accosting him. The bloke said "I ABSOLUTELY LOVE YOUR WORK. I JUST HAD TO COME OVER AND SAY HELLO". Will looked annoyed and embarrassed, but was very humble and polite. This guy then ran off. He'd been jogging in the park and interrupted the kid's party!

See previous thread. Celebrities find my calm but authoritative demeanour irresistible. It's embarrassing how many of these type encounters I've had.

I'm now halfway through the second series. While never nearly as much of a loser as they are, some of it is painfully on the nose.

Mind you, the irony has not escaped me that whereas I was once one of the gang, I'm now basically Mr Gilbert.
