I dunno. I used to be all in the favour but the older I get the less I feel that way. I can't see any law robust enough to protect vulnerable people from being pressured into it, or putting pressure on themselves to do it so as not to be 'a burden'

Rather hypocritically however, I do still want it as an option for myself

I'm all for it, provided its used in limited cases e.g. terminally ill, in pain, and they've gone through various screening processes to make sure its their decision and is what they want. Also, it should be for those approaching death anyway not the newly diagnosed. I think about my Mum and how it would have been better for her, and probably us, if she'd gone a week or two earlier. She'd have been far more comfortable and wouldn't have lost much time. And, we'd not be racked with the last memories of a tough, proud, strong women really struggling at the end with pain and losing a bit of dignity.

Strictly speaking, they're not 'unemployed', as they're not included in the unemployment figures.

I have another solution. Turn these economically inactive into slaves.

Screening processes are not infallible. How can we ever be sure?

In my case, i'm not sure she'd have took the option to be honest. But, she would have been in the right frame of mind to make the decision and I imagine she'd have appreciated the option.

But, i accept that isn't always the case. I guess, the key here is if there is even a hint of doubt then it shouldn't be allowed to proceed. And, it should only ever be the person wishing to end their life early's decision. If they're not able to make the decision themselves then it shouldn't be allowed.

I've seen people on twitter say "what if they're just in a low moment when screened". But, I believe the screening process would take place over an extended period of time with the question regulally asked if they wanted to continue. That's how they do it in Switzerland for example.
