Won’t you be protected by Mr Toad’s cunning poison pill plan - no one will want to merge with Woking and take on the debt. Certainly can’t accuse Woking of this…..
Labour ministers, however, reportedly see this two-tier approach as inefficient - accusing district councils of hoarding money and blocking the construction of new housing.
Woking should start annexing rich bits nearby like Chobham.

Typical socialists - wanting to get power away from those pesky voters, who don’t know what’s good for them.

Crawley is in West Sussex. East Surrey is mainly rural, with s small number of towns and villages with large property values. Oxted (Starmerville), Godstone, Lingfield, Woldingham, Warlingham, Caterham-on-the-hill.

Lets merge some London Boroughs i.e. Bexley, Greenwich and Lewisham. Think of the money saved. Only one Chief Executive instead of 3. Also Department directors such as Housing, Education Social Services could be cut from 3 to 1. Money saved could be spent on additional frontline staff instead of fat cats in ivory towers Of course it happened before when Metropolitan and District councils merged to become London Boroughs. Wonder how much they have saved over 60 years?

Close the Lords
Reduce the number of MPs by a third
Smash up district councils.
Split county councils into three.
