I can't see how France resolve this
The left, right and centrist factions are split fairly even with a 3rd of supoort in the National Assembly each. I can't see how the ruling centre right coalition get a budget through which will get enough support from either the far right or far left factions. And, they can't call an election for another 9 months yet. Macron could pick a PM from either the left or right to perhaps pave the way for a deal...but given Macron is very pro Europe and Melenchon and Le Pen very much aren't he's unlikely to do that. Macron could resign....but, that still doesn't change the National Assembly maths. Le Pen would likely come out on top vs Melenchon to enter the run off by whoever the centre puts up. And, even if she wins and appoints a far right PM they still will struggle to get anything done unless they comprimise hugely. It's a big mess...Macron will try to cling on. If he succeeds I guess its just running the clock down until they can hold a general election again. But, surely that will only punish them further unless someone untainted by the current politics emerges? 06-12-2024, 06:06 PM in response to #83353 Mr Nice 2.0 Wrote: I can't see how France resolve this Turning and turning in the widening gyre The falcon cannot hear the falconer 06-12-2024, 11:27 PM in response to #83184
Nah, reject new political movements. We should get the Roman's back to look after Gaul, Charlemagne too look after northern France and Henry II to run Aquitaine.
